Ms. Kay Menzies is a transformational business leader, strategic thinker and champion of leadership development with extensive investment and management experience covering renewable energy, distribution, e-commerce, and digital transformation. She began her tenure at Fortis Belize Limited (FBL) on June 1, 2021, as the company’s first female President and CEO as well as the first woman to lead an energy company in Belize. In this role, she leads the entity responsible for operating three hydroelectric facilities that supply as much as 40% of Belize’s annual electricity needs.

 

Ms. Menzies has served in numerous leadership positions in her nearly thirty years of business development experience, including as Managing Director of Karl H Menzies Company Ltd, as the first female Chair of the Belize Ports Authority and serving two consecutive terms as President of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She was also the Administrative Chair of the Belize Trade and Investment Promotion Service (Beltraide), a Director on the Board of the Development Finance Corporation, and a founding Co-Chair of the Economic Development Council.

 

She also currently serves as Deputy Chairman on the board of Belize Electricity Limited and is the first external Director appointed to the board of Grace Kennedy (Belize) Limited. She is also the co-founder of Socias Ltd, a company that provides consultancies in digital transformation.

 

Ms. Menzies holds a position as a member of the board of directors at Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (CUC).

Ms. Menzies also serves as the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Belize and the Prosperity Honorary Consul of Great Britain.

  

Ms. Menzies holds an MBA from Loyola University in Louisiana, USA, received an MBE in 2002 for services to Commerce & Industry and was made a Justice of the Peace in 2004. She is a humanitarian at heart and a strong advocate for the advancement of clean energy. She believes in connecting people, embraces creativity and innovation and supports her community.
